There will be a language session and briefing for the yldg pupils on monday,at 2.30pm. it will be at the void deck.Please make an effort to come as there will be important info. The groupings for the house visits have to be changed so the groupings on the interact board is now void. The new groupings will be up by tuesday so you have to check the board!(:

Please bring $7 on monday, (an extra $2 for those who have already paid $5.) so we can cover the costs for the stuff in the goodie bags we're giving to the elderly.Give it to me in my class (2/9) before morning assembly.otherwise,after school.thanks(: Also,bring recyclable bags for the goodie bags! We are seriously short of recyclable bags and need about 40 more bags(: We will continue to pack after the language session if we have bags.

On tuesday,we're going back to sheng shiong to get a second round of crackers as we cleared the shelf the other day(:Please tell me if you can come with me after school to get the stuff.We might consider buying recyclable bags if we are short of bags.

update on the project:

we are doing house visits around chai chee area.In groups of three,we will distribute goodie bags to the elderly and ask them 4 questions for a survey.the topic is safety in the house.Each visit will be 20 mins long,we are trying to cover about 42 houses in 2.5 hours.time: 2.30 to 5.30 ( 1/2 hr travelling time) We will be dismissed from there. The exact location is not confirmed yet although its in chai chee.The date is 19 march,next wed.

RV Interact Club will like to invite you to be a part of our annual International Understanding Day Celebrations.

This information sheet provides all the instructions and regulations to guide you in your preparations for the event. A briefing will also be conducted to prepare you for the event. It will be on the 19 Mar 08 (Wed) in LT4 from 3 pm to 4 pm. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend this briefing.

Objectives:

To promote greater understanding of different cultures and heritage;
To allow students of different schools to bond with each other through a common event; and
To promote creativity and innovative thinking.

1. The Ideas Book 2007
2. 2008 Entry/Application forms

Into its 6th year, Ideas in Action provides a platform for schools to embark on innovative and creative projects in the following categories - Hi-Tech Innovators, community programmes, the arts, mother-tongue-languages, life sciences, money management and business ventures. Proposals that are accepted will receive grants of up to $2500 to bring their ideas to fruition.

Citi has informed us that the deadline for project submissions (ie project conceptualisation and writeup details) is Monday 19 March 08. Schools are requested to send their submissions to their site at www.ideasinaction.com.sg. We would like to encourage schools to participatein this programme.

2.Introduction to dentistry career by famous Dentist from MT.Elizabeth
3.Heart surgeon-Video presentation of a heart surgery

Dear Project SPHERE partners,

Singapore Pools and Tote Board will be holding a carnival to celebrate their 40th and 20th Anniversaries on 26 Apr 08 (Sat) 4.30 - 7.30pm at Singapore Chinese Garden.

2 There are many performances and activities planned for the afternoon, including performances by Singapore Orchestra which may be of interest to the elderly. The details of the programmes are being worked out now and more details will be available nearer the date.

3 A turnout of about 3000 - 5000 people is expected at the event as it is open to the public as well. Admission to the carnival is free.

4 This may be a good opportunity for you to bring the elderly of your adopted block to soak in the carnival-like atmosphere and enjoy the performances with your students.

YOUTHS EMBRACE SOCIAL SERVICE 2008

We would like to extend an invitation once again to your students to participate in Youths Embrace Social Service (YES2) 2008, organised by the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).

2 The competition aims to:
a. inspire students' interest in social services.
b. challenge students towards greater and more innovative community involvement.
c. award students for their outstanding contributions to the community.

3 To participate, students have to form teams of at least 4 persons. The competition is open to all students from secondary schools, junior colleges, ITE colleges, centralised institute and polytechnics.

4 Students are encouraged to undertake projects which will have a significant impact on the target beneficiary groups. Projects are to be submitted according to the following categories:
a. Fundraising
b. Volunteering
c. Public Education

5 Teams should complete the registration form and a summary of their intended project by 17 March 2008. They are to carry out their project and submit a report by 14 July 2008.

6 Teams are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $3,000 from National Youth Council's Young Changemakers scheme. Details are attached together with this letter.

7 Schools can send in more than one team. All winning teams will stand to win cash prizes of up to $2,500. Community Involvement Programme (CIP) projects that are executed from January to July 2008 and meet the criteria can also qualify for this competition. More
information can be found at www.ncss.org.sg/yes.

8 We will be organising a half-day YES2 Empowerment seminar on 5 April 2008 to equip students with skills such as project management, fund-raising and Service-Learning. We strongly encourage participants to attend the seminar which will value add to their projects and> at the same time provide an enriching out-of-classroom learning experience.

Rotary Club is organising a Flag Day on 26 January 2008, and they appeal for our assistance.

Below is the information on the flag day:

Foundation of Rotary Clubs (S) Ltd has been assigned a flag day by the National Council of Social Service. The Flag Day is scheduled for Saturday, 26 January 2008.

It is the second time that the Foundation is raising funds through a Flag Day. We hope to raise S$100,000 to defray the expenses incurred by the community service projects under the Foundation of Rotary Clubs (S) Ltd, namely Rotary Family Service Centre and Students' Care Centre.

Annually, the Foundation incurs expenses of more than half a million dollars. Despite partial government subsidy, we rely heavily on public donations to keep our community work going. We are pleased to inform you that we have been closely following the best practice guidelines set by NCSS & MCYS.

In any Flag Day, a considerable manpower is needed to reach out to the community. Students will always continue to be a significant source of manpower and a voluntary participation also benefits their early philanthropy. We would appreciate it if you could mobilize a couple of hundred students, who are eligible to be involved in our Flag Day on Saturday, 26 January 2008.

Here are the minutes for the Interact session.

Interact Session
Term 3, Week 10

Date: 29th August 2007
Time: 3 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Venue: Secondary 1 classroom

Girl Gems Concert:
In charge- Syafiqah, Syafina, Nadiah, Siti

Evaluation

Good aspects:

- Very enjoyable as the performances were entertaining. All the participating groups were efficient.
- Everything was cleared up; therefore Madam Khoo was not hassled.
- Interactors made it enthusiastic and the celebrities afforded hype to the event. Therefore, next year’s Interactors should definitely participate in the Citibank YMCA project.

Areas for improvement:

- There should have been more full dress rehearsals because there were a lot of last minute preparations.
- A time plan should have been made up so as to organise better.

Singapore Innovation Fund (SIF):
In charge- Steering committee

Preparation is to be done in the holidays and must be ready by January.

Be Yourself Day:
In charge- Syaheerah, Jolene, Sarah, Inez.

No tank tops, tubes, spaghetti straps, shorts, slippers and sandals are allowed. Skirts must be knee length. However, long earrings are allowed. The print-out with this information will be put in all class mailboxes on Thursday. An announcement will also be made on the same day. Those who have not paid yet will have to pay $4 on Thursday.

SHINE project update:

Will be held in mid-October, after the final year examinations. It will also be before Hari Raya.

TKGS Arts Fest- Held on 26th January 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (tentative)
Various groups such as Dance, Drama, DEP, Band, String Ensemble, Choir and Finding Wednesday are to participate. Performances will be concurrent and each group will perform twice. Rehearsals for the event will begin in the morning. Coupons worth $10 each will be sold.

Be Yourself Day:

Guidelines for Teachers’ Day are to be shown during upper and lower secondary assemblies. Publicity will also be increased in this way. Those who did not pay before but wish to wear their own clothes on Teachers’ Day will have to pay $4.

Friday: 17th August: Brownies and ice cream
Monday, 20th August (tentative): Éclairs and drinks

Joke books can be found in the Interact cupboard, located at the void deck. Each joke book is to be sold for $10.

Sorry for spamming! Anyways, for those who already registered for the NDP umbrella, please do check your mail because the organizers already e-mailed you guys. For those who haven't, hurry up register because i think they will close the registration soon and i'm sure there won't be any space left. 5 days ago, 4423 places are available but currently only 1030 place left. And i did the math and 678.6 places are taken up each day! And it only takes 1.52 days(3 sig. fig.) for all of the spaces to be taken up! Hurry!

1) Free National Day Celebrations Fun Pack and limited edition "I was part of the largest human Singapore flag" umbrellas.
2) Be entertained by aeromodel flying demonstrations and exciting stage performances.
3) Form the largest human Singapore Flag and celebrate National Day with fellow Singaporeans and guest-of-honour NTUC Secretary-General and Minister (Prime Minister's Office) Mr Lim Swee Say.
4) Enjoy the NDP and its pre-show segment 'live' on large LED screens.

Please note that all participants should be aged 13 years and above and be healthy/fit enough to help form their portion of the national flag by holding up a large umbrella on their own, as well as to be out on the field for at least two hours.

I don't think that we'll be standing there holding the umbrella for 2 hours lah... i think the 2 hours include watching the performances and rehearsals. We should only be holding the umbrella throughout the national anthem and the pledge. If everyone of us can stand every morning tolisten to the national anthem and the pledge and.. erm... Mrs. Lim lecturing us telling us that we as TKGians should be punctual for morning assembly, surely we can do that holding an UMBRELLA! ASC(I) Interact Installation (14/4/07, Saturday, 10am-1pm, 121 Dover Road)
-Inform Taqinah if you wish to attend the installation and ask her for any questions

Citibank-YMCA Seed Funding Project
-Club Activity Directors, Jaslyn and Joy will be taking charge. It will be done over one week (yet to be chosen) using both “TK TOWKAY” stalls. Interactors will be split into 10 groups, every exco and board member will be the group leader of each group. Groupings will be decided later and posted in due time. It was discussed that ice cream, cookies, bears will be sold and there will be a henna painting service.

Singapore Innovation Fund
-Major Service Directors, Shaaleni and Taqinah will be taking charge. Have to brainstorm for ideas for racial harmony – a whole school event for the TKGS building fund. Level coordinators are to meet up with your respective levels to dicsuss your plan. Proposals are to be handed in to Taqinah or Shaaleni by latest next Tuesday.

-Interact Exco and Board, please hand up your camp forms to Mrs Hoy ASAP. If you can’t make it, you need a proper excuse letter.

The Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) Interact Club will be holding their 44th (wow! 44th!) Installation Day on the 14th of July(Saturday),and they had extend an invitation to us! The details are as follows:
